I live in shadow.... I live in shadow Dappled light Hidden sun Mountain looming just beside Dark and gray
I live in shadow Wondering Questioning Never certain, signs deceiving Answers eluding
Menace darkness reaches In my shadow Watching, eyes unseen Unknown future, bleak Distant web Fear reigns
I walk in shadow Obstacles hidden Sudden and sharp Every corner a stumbling block A maze, no way out
I live in shadow Slamming door Locked and broken Stuck here in shadow Unmoving, unseen Locked and broken
"Say to this mountain, 'Be moved!'" My faith must be so small!
I live in shadow Fear, self-loath Lies believed
If You are Light Why am I so alone In shadow? From where will come My release? Must I stay here, Lord?
I know You see I know You care I know You can... But what if I cannot? This was written at a time when I could not see God's Hand and I forgot. How easily we forget. The theme of this poem is fear, despair, loss. In Christ, we need not live in shadow. The very power that raised Christ from the dead is available to us. (Ephesians 1) It is when we focus on the good, the positive (and there is ALWAYS a positive) that God's peace comes to us. (Philippians 4) Did I find release from the darkness? Well, is God good? YES! If you find yourself where I was, look up, His Hand is within reach.
